Doing Deals

Michael has a great post on why most podcasting sponsorship deals are kept confidential:

I want podcasters to get paid their true worth. In many cases I am convinced that the people doing the deals are underselling the value. The more that people undersell the value – the more the market will come to accept those prices.

I agree 100%. Don’t undersell yourself or your show if you have an audience with solid metrics to back it up. This is the time when this evolving medium should have peak rates for sponsorhips. Look at what Rocketboom, although not an audio podcast, but a grassroots grown show, received for their first sponsorship ever. Read Michael’s full post.
